Conversion - Can I do it by Myself?
You can change an inner tube? Excellent! Then you also know how to retrofit your bike with an electric motor. The conversion instructions, included in every conversion kit, will support you doing so. The required tools are available from us - even on a rental basis. Should there be any trouble, we will provide advice and support.
And the best thing is: Almost every bike can be converted into an electric bike.
Conversion from Bike to Pedelec
The following video shows how N. Hilz converted his bike for his senior class high school project. According to him, the conversion was really easy and cycling with a motor is real fun. What you can see here is an conversion kit consisting of various components the battery is custom-made.

Was Does Conversion Mean?
Conversion means to turn your conventional bike into an electric bicycle. Therefore we only need a few components:

Using the controls you activate and regulate the motor. The cadence sensor detects your pedalling motion and activates the motor. Using a power throttle you ride like on a motor bike. You can use either the cadence sensor or the power throttle - or even both.

Is my Bike Suitable for Conversion Into an E-Bike or Pedelec?
Basically all types of bike are suited for conversion. With the help of this chart you can see, if your bike can be converted. In case you are still unsure, send us a picture of your bike in a file not larger than 10MB to the following email address: info@ebike-solutions.com. After inspection will will notify you, if a conversion is possible.

- Steel: very well suited
- Aluminium: very well suited
- Lightweight materials: Some special lightweight materials like carbon or magnesium have a limited suitability. Please ask the manufacturer.
Type of Fork
- Steel, stiff: very well suited
- Aluminium, stiff: very well suited
- Suspension fork: only conditionally suitable if a front wheel motor is used. Give us a call.
Conversion Kit With a Rear Wheel Motor
The hub spacing for rear wheel engines is 135 mm between the dropouts.
Brakes
- Disc brakes: very well suited
- V-Brakes: very well suited
- Cantilever brake: very well suited
- Roller Brake: very suitable. It may be possible to mount another brake on the wheel. Give us a call.
- Drum brake: very well suited. It may be possible to mount another brake on the wheel. Give us a call.
- Back pedal brake: very well suited

- Derailleur system: very well suited
- Hub dynamo: very well suited
- Hub gears: very well suited
Conversion Kit With a Front Wheel Motor
The hub spacing for front wheel motors is 100 mm between the dropouts. For narrow forks, such as Brompton, the pave width is 75 mm.
Brakes
- Disc brakes: very well suited (except for 75 mm wide motors)
- V-Brakes: very well suited
- Cantilever brake: very well suited
- Back pedal brake: very well suited
- Roller brake: suitable if a motor with roller brake mounting is installed.
- Drum brake: not suitable. A conversion to roller brakes may be possible. Give us a call.
Gears
- Derailleur system: very suitable
- Hub gears: very well suited
- Hub dynamo: very suitable. Requires an exchange of the front lamp for an e-bike lamp.
Conversion Kit With a Central Motor
The hub spacing at the bottom bracket is 68 mm. The frame geometry must match the engine. See the frame sketch in the product. The mid-mounted engine is not compatible with frames with ISCG 03/05 mount.

- Cantilever brake: very well suited
- Back pedal brake: only suitable if two independent brakes are still installed, as the back pedal is not required.

Crankset
- 1-speed: very suitable. 1-speed chainring is included in delivery.
- 3-speed: suitable, is replaced by the supplied 1-speed chainring.
- 2-speed: suitable, is replaced by the supplied 1-speed chainring.
